Frankly it’s not in their best interest! We as a community must get involved. I still think I made the right move! After my sons finish college, will they be able to raise their families in Breckenridge? Will they still have a community in Breckenridge or will it look like Keystone by then?If we as a community don’t get involved, we will lose our quaint town forever! It will become no more than a ski destination filled with second homeowners and condos.The ski industry doesn’t care if your or my children can return to live and raise their families here. I wanted to raise my two sons in a healthier lifestyle. We moved because of the schools and the community. and American Skiing Co.”Downhill Slide” explains in black and white that what’s good for the ski industry is not necessarily good for our community as a whole.I moved here from New Orleans with my family three years ago. ski industries’ motives and bottom line, mainly the big three: Vail Resorts Inc, Intrawest Corp. I think it should be required reading for our town council, including our mayor!This book explains the U.S. The title is “Downhill Slide: Why The Corporate Ski Industry Is Bad For Skiing, Ski Towns And The Environment,” by Hal Clifford.If you live, work or own property in or near a ski town you must read this book.
